THE PROJECT

Project Overview

Etowah County Jail, located in Gadsden, Alabama, is a secure correctional facility with a reported capacity of 977 beds. During renovation of its permanent kitchen, maintaining dependable foodservice operations was essential to supporting daily meal preparation within the active correctional environment.

KCI Temporary Kitchens provided a 1,350-square-foot, 3-Wide temporary commercial kitchen facility for a 10-month deployment. The three interconnected modular units provided dedicated space for institutional food preparation and production. The temporary kitchen also accommodated incarcerated individuals assigned to kitchen duties, allowing existing inmate foodservice work activities to continue while the permanent kitchen underwent renovation.
