Upon hearing that flames completely destroyed his camp’s kitchen and dining hall on June 5, 2015, Fred Dewey wondered how in the world the A.R.E. Children’s Camp could start in a week without a kitchen? It wouldn’t, unless he found a company that could provide a mobile kitchen quickly. His search led him to Kitchen Corps, which provides temporary kitchens and rapid response kitchens to clients nationwide.
“We received the call from Fred after working hours on Friday, June 5 and after talking some specifics Fred liked what he heard and gave us his requirements,” said Sarah Rogers, Kitchen Corps National Sales Manager. “Our team worked all weekend on the plans and set-up, and by Tuesday morning, June 9 one of our Rapid Response Kitchen Trailers was delivered to Rural Retreat, VA.”
The mobile kitchen trailer was fully functional on Wednesday, June 10. The unit can prepare up to 3,000 meals per day and includes:
(1) 36″ Griddle
(2) Deep Fryers
(1) 6-Burner Range & Oven
(1) 25 Gallon Kettle
(1) Double Stack Convection Oven
(1) Reach-in Refrigerator
(1) Reach-in Freezer
(1) Fire Suppression System
(1) Hand Sink
(1) 3-Compartment Sink
(1) 2-Compartment sink and several work tables
“In the time it took for other temporary kitchen companies to call us back with pricing,” said Dewey, “Kitchen Corps was already on site with our temporary kitchen set up and ready to feed our campers for the remainder of the summer.”
“Kitchen Corps has been great throughout the entire process,” he said. “Their response time was phenomenal and the process was painless. The condition of the kitchen is excellent, and the entire Kitchen Corps staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and dedicated to helping our camp continue food service during this disaster.”
“Our rapid response kitchen trailers are designed to be available in a moment’s notice,” said Rogers. “With pre-determined equipment already inside, we can make quick adjustments according to the client’s needs, and have the unit and our Kitchen Corps Representative on-scene quickly.”
A.R.E. plans to use the temporary kitchen until the end of summer. They are now collecting donations to rebuild a new kitchen and dining hall.
Our motto is “The difficult we do right away. The impossible takes a bit longer.”
